New Website Cost Estimator
Please note that this is an estimator and not a formal quotation tool. It is designed to provide you with a ballpark figure for the features and functionality you select. The ultimate cost quoted may go up or down after further discussion as to your exact requirements.
Don’t panic! Our experience in the real world tends to indicate that, when specifying the requirements for a new website, there is a tendency to over-egg the pudding so, we find that when we come to flesh out the detail, later on, costs can reduce significantly compared to those generated by the estimator tool.
About our pricing
We can be pretty flexible about how we charge for our services but, over the years we’ve found two models which our clients seem to like.
The first option is the “Comprehensive Year 1” plan where the price we quote covers all costs in the first year including the design & build, hosting, maintenance, updates and minor changes. In this model, unless you request additional, significant additions, that’s all you’re going to pay in the first year. You can then pay a 20% deposit up-front and the balance on completion or you may prefer our pay monthly option which differs only in the fact that you start paying from acceptance of our formal quote.
How we price jobs
The cost of a website basically falls into 3 distinct areas. Firstly, there’s the labour cost of actually sitting down, creating the design and then implementing it. Secondly, there’s the cost of any 3rd party image and software licences we may need to buy in and then there’s the cost of hosting and maintaining the website on our own servers. Sometimes, we also need to spend time programming integrations to make your website work with external platforms such as Google reviews, Calendars etc. We like to be very transparent about our pricing so, when you receive a formal quotation from us, you’ll see everything broken down in detail.
What happens after the first year?
After the first year, the website is all yours. Hopefully, you’ll want to stay with us and move on to a “maintenance and updates” contract. Typically this is around 3% of the total cost of your website payable monthly or annually in advance if you prefer.
What if I need additional functionality at a later date?
No problem. Talk to us about what it is you’d like to add and we’ll give you a fixed quotation for the work. Depending on the nature of the functionality, this may also mean a rise in monthly maintenance costs. We’re very transparent in our pricing so, we charge £40.00 an hour for all of our work, across the board. We work out how long something will take us plus any additional costs we may incur such as software licences and that’s how much you pay.
What if I don’t want or need a monthly maintenance contract?
Websites need regular updates and checks to keep them secure from hackers and to ensure they’re functioning as intended. Just like any software solution, things can go wrong and our job is to make sure they don’t and, if they do, to fix them before anyone notices! However, the choice is yours and after the first year, you’re free to move your website to a different provider or maintainer.
